William johnston building

The entire William Johnston Building was known as the โ€œDining Hallโ€ for roughly 60 years because it housed a bakery, creamery, cannery, dining hall, and private dining area for the university President and faculty. Unfortunately there was a fire in a nearby by administrative office, and staff members relocated to the dining hall.

With a goal toward interdisciplinary collaboration, William Johnston houses teaching segments of the Colleges of Health and Human Sciences, Communication and Information and Fine Arts, as well as undergraduate services such as the Academic Center for Excellence, Advising First, the Center for Exploratory Students and the Reading/Writing Center.

Todayโ€™s William Johnston is a multi-tasking, carbon-neutral, student-focused learning and gathering place that joins rich, beautiful tradition with smart, contemporary pizazz. The 143,000 square foot, $35.5 million construction project involved renovating the existing four-story historic building and adding a new five-story expansion structure

Design development for creating a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) line drawing involves a meticulous process that begins with conceptualization and evolves through iterative refinement. As the design progresses, precise measurements and technical specifications are integrated into the CAD software, shaping the lines and contours of the drawing with accuracy and precision. Each element undergoes careful scrutiny, to the placement of windows and doors ensuring optimal functionality and aesthetic appeal. The CAD line drawing serves as a blueprint for construction and implementation, guiding the realization of the envisioned space with clarity and efficiency. Through thoughtful design development, every detail is meticulously crafted to transform vision to drawing.
